Man Land Monday

Hey guys, and I mean you gentleman. Today is all about tools, so no more saying you don't know what tool does what when your better half asks for some help. I will do another post about drills because there are sssooo many different ones. This post would be huge otherwise!

Orbital Sanders
Orbital sanders are handheld that have an orbit movement. These tools combine the power and aggression of the belt sander but produce a finer finish. They are mostly used for fine sanding or for removing  material.

Disk Sanders
The disk sander is a machine that consists of a replaceable circular shaped sandpaper attached wheel. It used mainly on wood products but can also be used on plastics, metals and other soft material. Depending on the paper grit it can be used for fine to medium sanding.

Concrete Grinders
Concrete Grinders come in many configurations but the most common is handheld. A purpose built version is available to grind and polish concrete, marble and granite. All concrete grinds use an abrasive like diamond or silicon carbide. Concrete can be dry-grinded or wet-grinded but wet-grinding needs more people. When grinding concrete a mask should always be worn, the fine dust is very harmful to the lungs.

Angle Grinders
Angle grinders may be used for removing excess material from a piece or simply cutting into pieces. They have many different disk attachments: cut-off disks, grinding disks, grinding stones, sanding disks, wire brushes and polishing pads.

Mitre Saw
Short and sweet the mitre saw is used to make accurate cross cuts.

Nailers
Short and sweet again, they are a quicker option than a hammer and nail. They also help save your fingers from miss hits.

Belt Sander
A belt sander is used in shaping and finishing wood. They can be very aggressive on wood and are normally for the beginning stage of the sanding process. They can also be used to remove paint or finishes from wood. These machines produce a large amount of dust, so please wear a mask.

Planers
Planers are used to flatten, reduce the thickness and impart a smooth surface to a rough piece of wood.

Until next time
