Today's post is all about beer!
Beer is one of the world's oldest prepared beverages dating back to the early Neolithic period or 9500 BC. The earliest known evidence of barley beer dates to circa 3500–3100 BC. In 1516, William IV, adopted the purity law which allowed the only ingredients of beer to be water, hops and barley-malt. There are many types of beer brewed but the basics of brewing beer are all the same.
Pale Ale: is a beer which uses the top-fermenting yeast and predominantly a pale malt. It is one of the world's major beer styles.
Stout: and Porter are dark beers made using roasted malts or roast barley. They are typically brewed with a slow fermenting yeast. The name Porter was first used in 1721 to describe a dark brown beer later becoming known as stout.
Mild: has a predominantly malty taste and is commonly dark colour.
Wheat: is brewed with large proportions of wheat although it can also contain a significant proportion of malted barley. Wheat beers are usually top-fermented. The flavour of wheat beers varies considerably.
- Lager: is the English name for a cool fermenting beer.
- Lambic: is a beer of Belgium that is naturally fermented using wild yeasts, rather than cultivated.
Amber Ale: is a sweeter beer due to the amount of malt. They are dark in colour which gives it it's name.
Do you guys have a favourite beer type?
